Complete Interior Checklist for a New Flat
Moving into a new flat involves more decisions than most people expect. This checklist covers the major stages in a sensible order, so nothing gets decided too late to change cheaply.
Before design starts
Confirm site measurements against the builder's floor plan (they don't always match exactly), note existing plumbing and electrical points, and set a realistic budget range before finalising any design.
Design and material stage
Finalise layout, kitchen and wardrobe design, false ceiling plan, and material/finish selections — ideally reviewed in 3D before execution starts.
Execution stage
Civil and electrical work first, then false ceiling, then painting, then woodwork installation, then furniture — in that general order to avoid one trade damaging another's finished work.
Before handover
Walk through with a snag list, test all switches, sockets, and fittings, and confirm warranty terms and start date in writing before final payment.
